Ukraine calls for new Russia energy talks

Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko called for fresh talks with Moscow to resolve an energy crisis amid reports that Russia’s move to cut off gas to Ukraine was affecting supply to other European countries.

“I will call on Vladimir Putin… for Gazprom to return to the negotiating table,” Yushchenko told reporters as his country of 48 million people braced for shortages.
