U.S. Economy Has Investors Worried

Stock markets are likely in for another negative week as commodity stocks continue to retrace ground and investors fret about weakness in the U.S. economy — despite recent data showing strength.

“We’ve seen … a whole slate of better than expected U.S. economic data which would tend to suggest that the U.S. economy has already moved past the soft patch,” said Doug Porter, deputy chief economist at BMO Nesbitt Burns.

“But yet at the same time, almost every market indicator we can look at is sending warning signals about the broader growth picture going forward.”
