U.S. Ambassador William Brownfield denied the U.S. is trying to undermine Venezuelan oil output, responding to an accusation by the country’s defense minister last month that a production drop was the result of a CIA- inspired plot.
“We aren’t trying to lower production of the state oil company or break off energy relations,” Brownfield said in an interview with Union radio in Caracas.
