ASHGABAD, February 9 (Itar-Tass) – Turkmenistan insists on a revision of the price of the natural gas, which it exports to Russia. “The Gazprom Company proposal for keeping the price at last year’s level is unacceptable to Turkmenistan,†reads the official report on the results of the Thursday meeting between President of Turkmenistan Saparmurat Niyazov and Gazprom Board Chairman Alexei Miller.
Ashgabad sent the price of exported natural gas up from 44 to 58 US dollars per one thousand cubic meters of its gas on January 1, 2005. “The preceding price does not reflect the actual cost incurred in the extraction and transportation of the contracted amount of natural gas,†the report notes. It goes on to affirm, “The price proposed by Turkmenistan is much lower than the world gas prices.â€Â
