Tropical Storm Emily, the fifth named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, developed late on Monday but was still far out in the ocean and several days away from posing a threat to any inhabited areas.
Emily, given tropical storm status once it developed winds of more than 39 mph (63 kph), followed hot on the heels of Hurricane Dennis, which rampaged through the Caribbean and then slammed into the U.S. Gulf Coast on Sunday.
