Even as Nigeria assumes the Presidency of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) on January 1, 2006 and a Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) crude pipeline blown up in the Niger Delta killing at least eleven persons and denying the country the export of 170,000 barrels of crude per day, the management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is working hard to transform it into a world-class international oil and gas company, just like its peers in Malaysia, Brazil and Venezuela.
..So, after successfully ending persistent harrowing long queues at fuel retail stations, the organisation is set to end gas flaring in Nigeria’s oil fields by 2008, bring additional liquefied gas trains into operation and build more mega stations across Nigeria.
