Jan. 8 (Bloomberg) — Total SA, Europe’s third-largest oil company, will shut down a unit at its refinery in Port Arthur, Texas, because of “unfavorable operating conditions.”
The refinery plans to route gases are that released to a flare gas recovery system to minimize the emissions, according to a filing by Paris-based Total with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
The filing did not provide details about which refinery unit is involved. Gases being released will likely include carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide, the filing said.
