Total Says Oil Sands Project Revised, Not Delayed

(Reuters) – French oil major Total SA has revised plans for its $9 billion Canadian oil sands project, but a senior executive stressed on Friday that did not constitute a big delay due to an overheated construction environment.

Total, operator of the Joslyn oil sands project in Alberta, expects its mining portion to start producing 100,000 barrels of tar-like bitumen a day in 2012 or 2013, said Michael Borrell, who recently took over as president of the company’s Canadian unit.
