Total Expects 200,000 bpd from Alberta Oilsands by 2015

French energy company Total SA expects to be producing 200,000 barrels of bitumen daily from its oilsands holdings by 2015, and intends to spend at least $5 billion US on an upgrader in Alberta.

Total, the world’s fourth-largest oil and gas company with operations in more than 130 countries, greatly enhanced its oilsands holdings in Canada last year with a $1.6 billion takeover of junior Deer Creek Energy Ltd.
