The Thin Veneer Of Civilization That We All Take For Granted Is Evaporating

The Thin Veneer Of Civilization That We All Take For Granted Is Evaporating thumbnail

Have you noticed that the world seems to be going a little bit more crazy with each passing month?  Here we are halfway through 2016, and the rot and decay that are eating at the foundations of civilized society seem to be rapidly gaining momentum.  Every single day, all of us take certain things for granted as we go through our normal routines.  For example, as you walk down the street you probably take it for granted that someone is not going to pull out a gun and try to shoot you.  As members of a civilized society, we have come to expect that our fellow citizens will behave in a certain way.  Unfortunately, the thin veneer of civilization that we have all come to rely upon is steadily evaporating all over the globe, and chaos, crime and violence are all on the rise.

Even the United States is becoming a lawless place.  We saw this very clearly when the FBI magically cleared Hillary Clinton.  We’ll talk more about the deterioration of America later on in this article, but I would like to begin today by looking at what is going on in Brazil.  The Olympics are about a month away, and things are so bad in Rio de Janeiro that police have put up a billboard for all of the tourists that are coming in that says “Welcome to Hell”

The Olympic Games are 31 days away — and Rio de Janeiro is in crisis.

Violence is on the rise, and police officers are at loggerheads with the Rio state government after claiming they’ve not been paid for months.

The message from police to tourists is clear: We won’t be able to protect you.

The state’s police officers vented their anger Monday with a sign saying, “Welcome to Hell,” outside Rio’s main airport.

It may be hard to believe, but approximately 42,000 people are shot and killed in Brazil each year, and it has one of the highest homicide rates on the entire planet.

But it isn’t just the violence that those traveling to the Olympics need to be concerned about.  According to Weather.com, a “super bacteria” has been found in the city’s waterways…

Lead researcher Renata Picao told CNN that a drug-resistant bacteria has entered the city’s waterways from sewage coming from local hospitals, which is channeled into Guanabara Bay and eventually washes up on area beaches.

“I don’t take my children to these beaches,” Picao said. “We still need more studies to tell what would be the risk to human health of this exposure through the water.”

According to the Associated Press, the Olympic sites on Guanabara Bay are tested daily for bacteria, and four of the five will not pose any problems, but also said the bay has shown astronomically high levels of viruses for which the state is not testing. Rio’s waters were found to contain viruses up to 1.7 million more times hazardous than a beach in the U.S, CBS reports.

The water is so bad in Rio that the U.S. rowing team will actually use sewage-proof suits at the Olympics.

Yuck!

Meanwhile, things are even worse in Brazil’s neighbor Venezuela.  47 percent of the population can no longer provide three meals a day for their families, people are hunting cats and dogs for food, and armed guards are being stationed on food trucks to keep the rioters and looters at bay.  It is a full-blown economic collapse, and what is happening in Venezuela right now is eventually coming to America.

Over in Europe, they are dealing with a major sexual assault epidemic.  Millions of refugees from the Middle East have poured into western Europe over the past couple of years, and the results have been nothing short of catastrophic.  The latest incident to make global headlines comes from Sweden

Over 20 girls between 12 and 18 years old told police they were sexually assaulted by a group of men during a music festival in Karlstad, Sweden.

Police are investigating “a score of cases in which young girls have been molested,” Swedish Aftonbladet daily reported.

It said that the alleged attacks occurred during the “Putte i Parken” rock festival in Karlstad in Varmland County, despite enhanced police presence.

Do you want to guess who the attackers were?  One of the young girls that was sexually assaulted said that the perpetrators “were not from a Swedish background”

She said that the boys around them were about 17 or 18-years-old but ‘those standing behind me were not from a Swedish background.’

‘They were probably immigrants. I hate to say it. But it is the truth,’ she said.

‘I have reported this to the police, but it feels like a drop in the ocean. I saw girls that came crying from the audience, including an old childhood friend who is two years younger. She cried so much that it broke my heart.’

But don’t worry, the police in Sweden have launched a new campaign against these kinds of assaults.  They plan to hand out bracelets that say “don’t molest” at music festivals and they have even started a special hashtag on Twitter.

That should do quite a bit to stem the tide.

Over in Germany, a leaked report is making waves because it specifically identifies refugees as the primary reason for the horrible wave of sexual assaults at swimming pools and other bathing establishments…

The internal report was issued for officers of the Criminal Commisariat 12 – responsible for sex crimes and missing persons – and states: ‘The K12 can confirm a surge in sex crimes at these establishments.

‘In particular rape and the sexual abuse of children in bathing establishments have given us grave cause for concern.

‘The perpetrators are, for the most part, immigrants.’

Look, I am all in favor of helping families that are fleeing the war in Syria, but these nations in Europe need to start using some common sense.

In the Middle East, the barbarism just continues to get even worse.  Just today, I saw a report about how ISIS is boiling people alive, and over the past couple of weeks there has been a shocking string of Islamic terror attacks all over the world.  According to Wikipedia, there have been more than 100 terror attacks worldwide per month so far in 2016, and during the month of June there were more than 200.

When are people going to start realizing that Islamic terror is a major threat and it is not going away?

In the United States, the thin veneer of civilization is breaking down as well, and this is especially true in many of our major cities.

Over the July 4th weekend, at least 64 people were shot in Chicago.  The homicide rate in the city is up nearly 50 percent so far in 2016, and the police are having a very difficult time trying to deal with rapidly escalating gang violence in the region.

But it isn’t just the rise in violent crime that shows how our society is decaying.  I want to share with you an incident that I came across earlier today that I think really gives us some insight into what is happening to this country.  Our young people have so little respect for one another or for anything else, and the way that they treat one another is not what you would expect from citizens of a “civilized” society.  Just check out this example of what I am talking about

A pair of young American men were left covered in Coke after they pranked a young female McDonald’s worker.

They approached a drive-thru in their SUV with the camera rolling.

Just as the girl prepares to take their money and hand them the drink they honk the horn, making her jump in fright.

But the worker had the last laugh when she said: ‘You’re not going to get your drink, go!’ before lobbing the large Coke back at them.

The driver tried to chuck the drink back but she shut the drive-thru window in time.

You can watch the young McDonald’s worker throwing the Coke at the two guys right here.  My point is not to place blame on the worker or on the two “pranksters”.  Rather, my point is to show how pathetic our interactions with one another have become.

We like to think that we are so “advanced”, but the truth is that we have become the kind of crude, disgusting slobs that the movie “Idiocracy” once mocked.

Could you imagine the people of Downton Abbey acting in this manner?

I certainly couldn’t.

And you know why they wouldn’t have acted this way?

It is because they were far more “civilized” than we are.

Our standards have fallen so low that very few people care if we even have standards anymore.  Just like most of the rest of the world, our society is crumbling, and as a result the thin veneer of civilization that we all take for granted is starting to disappear.

I hate to break it to you, but Downton Abbey isn’t real. Its a fictional story. Similar the characters on Downton abbey aren’t feal—they are fictional. The actors you see on Downton Abbey aren’t more civilized either—they are just doing whatever is in their scripts.

    Cheers!

Another indication is how many people, like Michael Snyder, are using the crumbling and fear it generates as a means to enrich himself while pretending to be a reporter. Good journalism using wiki as your reference. Wiki is awesome and so secure – it’s not like anyone can edit the information there (like congressional staffers) any time they want. I agree with Mikey that there are many indications of collapse and it will come to the US and other rich countries too, but the boy plays fast and loose with the interpretations and like to lead his readership on. For example there is a little more to the police sign at the airport than tourist safety, but telling readers that would make it lees dramatic. Best to keep it simple for his simple minded fan boys.

Rio’s Police Say ‘Welcome To Hell’

The Olympics are providing police with an opportunity to push for higher wages. Yet their violence in poor communities goes undiscussed.

It’s Time to Stop Saying – “But Cops Have A Dangerous Job”

    http://libertyblitzkrieg.com/2016/07/07/its-time-to-stop-saying-but-cops-have-a-dangerous-job/

Cops of course have a very dangerous job. Stopping cars, inciting anger in the people they stop and harass with tickets and fines over typically minor infractions, chasing criminals, responding to domestic disputes, and just being the random targets of pissed off individuals with easy access to high powered and high capacity weapons — all, very dangerous.

And it is getting more dangerous all the time as more and more people are marginalized by downward spiraling economic trends. Just wait until panic sets in. Just wait until all hope and all illusions fade away. Just wait until the JIT system starts breaking down in some areas and hungry frightened people riot — you wouldn’t want to be a cop anywhere near a situation like that.

I suspect that as breakdown continues and finally goes parabolic, cops will most likely put on their civilian clothes and head back home to protect their friends/families and to blend in with the local population (of zombies). Once chaos gets underway, presenting oneself as a cop and attempting to enforce the law will be a fast ticket to the afterlife.

There isn’t enough military or civilian law enforcement to handle mobs and looting on a widespread basis. The best they will manage is to defend critical installations.

If you want to survive what is coming or at least give it a good effort, then being able to defend yourself and those you care about is an important first step. Depending on cops to protect you is not a good plan.

WTF the author says ‘we’ have become so depraved blah blah blah. Speak for yourself. America is filled with shithead underclass trash. The rest of us are still civilized. So there is a grouping of civilized people in America, and then there is all the worthless garbage.

And the Hillary bitches take our earnings from the decent people, and give it to the shithead garbage class, while taking a very healthy commission for themselves.

So vote for Trump and watch him bring down the whole country like a logger felling a tree. Trump wrecking the country is better than putting up with the shithead underclass taking our money to buy guns for their shooting sprees, while shrill Hillary gives fund-raising speeches.

  12. JuanP on Fri, 8th Jul 2016 5:42 am

The Dallas attack will just be used by the US government and the American cops to increase the abuse and repression that people in the USA are subjected to on a daily basis and take us one step closer to a military dictatorship. This is all so deja vu for me. How many innocent people do the US government, the US military, and American police forces murder, torture, abuse, beat up, and rape on a daily basis? Payback is a bitch. A few police dead means absolutely nothing to me. I feel no empathy. Most of the people I know in the USA fear and/or hate the police.

In Uruguay people fear the criminals more than the police. In the USA it is the other way around. I avoid the police in the USA as if they had the plague.

Gun control was let out of the barn and she won’t be gathered back up at least not in our current arrangement. The best way to solve the gun control problem is stop making bullets and confiscate stashes and equipment to make them. This will not stop the problem but it would take a lot of wind out of the momentum. Since the NRA is solidly in control this won’t happen so arm yourself.

I am armed per my doom and prep philosophy. I am competent with guns having grown up with them. I got my first shotgun at 13. I was an avid hunter for 30 years until I stopped the killing for sport. I did this sports killing because it was what we did. I just said no at a point for spiritual reasons. I have guns for protection and hunting. If society collapses I will start hunting again. The farm is managed for my family to hunt on. I manage wildlife to better them. Hunting is part of this since we have no higher level predators left.

I have personal protection and plenty of ammo. Will this save me in a mad max world? It will help. I can bribe and try to befriend potentially dangerous people that may visit. I can also dispose of them as needed if that must happen or can happen. I may be killed but a tree may fall on me today in the woods. None of us are getting out of here alive.

I am pro gun control but since there is no gun control and the streets are full of idiots with guns I am armed and prepared. I don’t go to dangerous places out of choice. Why go to an inner city when your odds of being shot skyrocket. This violence in Dallas is just more unreality at multiple levels. Gun violence kills many daily both innocent and deserving alike. We have a fit about a few policemen while 10 times that dies daily. We have a shit fit over 50 in a gay club but we allow guns on the street that any idiot can buy. We spend trillions on terrorism when only a small statistical amount die compared to the other sources of violence. It reminds me of plane crashed. The friggen TV goes postal with coverage of 100 dying but little is said about all the other transportation deaths.

Our world is dysfunctional and getting worse. Too many people mean too many crazies. We are losing control and deny the why. The best thing to do is don’t look for trouble. If you are in a bad location get out. There is no solution to this problem and many others. They are now predicaments and just more reasons why the whole civilization we mistakenly call civilization is crashing around us.

    We are saying good bye to our 38 year old daughter today, who despite eleven years of struggling against cancer, lived a heroic life and gave unconditional love to her family and friends. Tomorrow my wife and I will journey home and begin life anew without the presence of Olivia. Anyway;

Most of the cops I know are decent people who are just doing their job day in and day out.

Most black people I know are decent hardworking people who love their families and are attempting to make it in a world that is skewed in favor of white folk.

Most of the Muslims I know are decent hard working people who care about their families attempting to get by in a world skewed to Christian folks.

Most of the workers I know are decent hardworking people who care about their families and attempting to survive in a world skewed towards the one percenters.

As the families of the people killed in Minnesota, Baton Rouge, and Dallas come to grips today with the loss of their loved ones; politicians and hate mongers will spread their hateful messages and instill fear in the ranks and files. Their will be more killings tomorrow and afterwards and the hatred will continue to spread.

I will attempt to live life the way my daughter did and find the good in people no matter their creed, religion, race, or ethnicity.

    Peace to you all.

Davy I am pleased that you have come to grasp the futility of gun abolition and have decided to arm you and yours in an effort to defend yourself against the unfolding chaos. However I would take exception to your suggestion that gun abolition could be achieved if ammunition supplies were shut down and stockpiles were confiscated. It was precisely the effort to seize ammunition supplies in Concord and Williamsburg that kicked off the American Revolution. It is estimated that two trillion rounds of ammunition are in private hands. I know from personal experience that ammunition properly stored has a shelf life of half a century.
I would submit to you that the nature of man has not significantly changed in the span of recorded history. Consequently the study of history offers valuable insights into the nature of man. Under this premise, a closer look at the Revolution might provide some insights into the American mind. If John Adams, a man who was there, is to be believed, the vast majority of Americans did not support the Revolution. According to Adams only one third of the population supported the Revolution. The other two thirds of the population were either diametrically opposed to the Revolution or were ambivalent. So, roughly sixty seven percent of the population was against the raging civil war that broke out here in America in the name of liberty. Here is the real kicker. Only three percent of the general population actively fought in the Revolution.
I submit to you the hypothesis that 97 percent of the population will not actively resist governmental efforts to confiscate arms and ammunition. I would further submit that roughly a third of the gun owning population will seek to conceal their fire arms and ammunition from seizure. I would finally suggest that only three percent of the population will violently oppose the force that comes to disarm them. While three percent does not seem significant, it constitutes a disorganized swarm of over nine million men and women. There is no organizational structure for this minority. There is no command structure to be attacked or eliminated. It is a swarm. A swarm of nine million pissed off patriots when triggered will take down the flag and turn off the lights in every major city in the United States. What comes next is organized resistance.

The reason our leaders wont confront it is because they dont know how to handle it. The generation leading us is generaton X, benficaries of womens lib, and sexual liberation, free the weed, peace and love is what they knew growing up. That computers and post industrialism would give each westerner a free life. And that might have been true, until mass migration both wiped out the benefits of an efficient economy with low birth rates while also acting as a pressure release for rising wages and adding to growth (both of which brought us to the world we know today). It was just easier to allow them not to integrate rather than force the matter and be ‘negative’. Liberalism is a fools paradise because humans are humans and in the end dont change. Americas melting pot was really just europeans getting along as they do in europe, the only outsiders added from Africa still havent integrated fully not because of whites but because human beings are hardwired to integrate only up to a point. Cooperation is benfical when all sides profit, its game theory 101. As Churchill said ‘democracy is the worst system ever devised, except for all the others’.
Historically states and leaders have dealt with jihadism by the only true means available, that was to kill all jihadis wherever they were and when populations of muslims wouldnt stop attacking people, they were packed on boats and sent to islamic countries or allowed to covert and live peacefully. Make what you will of it, that toughness is missing in the world and makes all extremists everywhere of all relgions think that society is weak and ready for revolutions.

  22. Davy on Fri, 8th Jul 2016 11:09 am

Cloud, maybe you did not get the gist of my argument. Significant gun control will likely never happen is my point. It is obvious elimination of production and confiscation will not solve the problem but if we stop production of ammunition and the guns themselves we would begin to reduce the supply just by the fact that equipment and supplies degrade over time. Allowing resupply for hunting would have to be figured out. Don’t take any arms from people and let them have their ammo but no new guns and ammo produced. Offer a generous buy back. Confiscate illegal arms that have not been grandfathered. The borders would still allow guns in but nothing like gets through now. Is any action at gun control perfect? No. Are there options? Yes. Will it happen? No. It is likely anything drastic is too much for the government to undertake. The government is paralyzed these days with inaction. What is more it would be a new and expensive “War on Drugs” type action full of corruption and mismanagement. The world is falling apart so time is running out to do anything anyway. This is a real tragedy that is now starting to tumble out of control.

  23. GregT on Fri, 8th Jul 2016 11:55 am

“if we stop production of ammunition and the guns themselves we would begin to reduce the supply just by the fact that equipment and supplies degrade over time.”

I have several crates of surplus ammo from 1953, that still goes bang almost every time, out of a semi auto that was manufactured in 1947. 60 plus years and still as good as new.

  24. Cloud9 on Fri, 8th Jul 2016 12:20 pm

Davy, gun control is a propaganda narrative that seeks to advantage one group to the disadvantage of another group. http://jpfo.org/filegen-a-m/deathgc.htm
Serious gun control in the United States began in the 1930’s when the federal government in the throes of the Great Depression began to fear groups like the Bonus Army and the Wild Boys of the Road. It got its second great leap forward after the Energy Crisis and the publication of Limits to Growth. While every effort has been made to extend the gun abolition narrative in an effort to disarm the public, the deep state has been arming up.
“The number of non-military federal officers with arrest and firearm authority (200,000+) now exceeds the number of U.S. Marines (182,000). Spending on guns, ammo and military-style equipment at 67 federal agencies – including 53 regulatory, administrative agencies amounted to $1.48 billion between 2006-2014.” http://www.forbes.com/sites/adamandrzejewski/2016/06/21/an-assault-weapons-ban-for-the-irs-and-other-federal-regulatory-agencies/#445bc7536924 Combine these facts with the vast amounts of ammunition bought by Home Land Security. “The Denver Post, on February 15th, ran an Associated Press article entitled Homeland Security aims to buy 1.6b rounds of ammo, so far to little notice. It confirmed that the Department of Homeland Security has issued an open purchase order for 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition. As reported elsewhere, some of this purchase order is for hollow-point rounds, forbidden by international law for use in war, along with a frightening amount specialized for snipers. Also reported elsewhere, at the height of the Iraq War the Army was expending less than 6 million rounds a month. Therefore 1.6 billion rounds would be enough to sustain a hot war for 20+ years. In America.” http://www.forbes.com/sites/ralphbenko/2013/03/11/1-6-billion-rounds-of-ammo-for-homeland-security-its-time-for-a-national-conversation/#811b4405e012

Gun control – another oxcymoronic statement.

Top Senate Recipients Funded – Top House Recipients Funded

    http://maplight.org/us-congress/interest/J6200/view/all

Apparently firearms manufacturing has greatly increased under Obama’s watch. Seem the numbers don’t justify the alarmist of the gun lobby/NRA fanboys. In fact, as gun sales (with huge sales spikes after mass shootings) increase the so have the claims of oppressive gun control. The evidence is in direct contradiction to the claims, so what does that say about their ability to reason? How about it does not exist because everything these retards parrot comes straight out of NRA/industry hired PR firms and think tanks. There will be no gun confiscation program. It’s not 1775 where the TPTB have muskets and bayonet’s and the people have muskets and bayonets. It’s 2016 where the people have a bunch of small arms and TPTB have kitted up the local police with all that military surplus (good for that other lobby) and have helicopters, planes, drones, satellites and can shut your life down with a few key board strokes. If TSHTF and martial law was declared then they would want the guns, but they would give a period of time to hand them in and after that anyone with one would be a criminal. Your owners simply do not give a shit about your little pea shooters. They don’t need gun control. They already control everything they need which is everything you need and think you need.

The Number of Guns Manufactured in the U.S. Has More Than Doubled Since 2008

    https://www.thetrace.org/2015/07/us-guns-manufacturing-atf-report/

See, they don’t need to worry about the disaffected and disgruntled – they are a self solving problem as long as they can keep selling them guns and prescription narcotics and alcohol and the TBTF banks maintain their free pass to keep the narcos in business by washing their drug money. And for those that cant’t stand it, but don’t have the constitution to off themselves (most), they have plenty of pills to to sell them that will dull the pain and keep them producing and consuming.

Yes, we are certainly fast descending in many ways. Nothing can stop now this rolling snowball going downhill. Much of this comes back to us. So we have some here who the general public would interpret as cynical or antisocial. Well, maybe because you guys were and are sensitive and have difficulty conforming to this insanity we call Civilization with all its brutality, inequality, injustice etc. No, I am here and I stay here posting because most of you have my admiration for standing firm and seeing without blinking our current state. It breaks my heart to see what I am seeing. I wish I didn’t have too. But this is reality. I refuse to be one of these lost souls who hide from reality and cannot confront it even for the sake of those he/she cares about. Lets all just give up on this thing we call humanity and Civilization. Lets just gaze each one of us at ourselves, do we like what we see? If not be who you truly feel you should be and can be. I will die maybe tomorrow maybe the next day whatever. But to the last breadth of my life I will not compromise my principles. That is the vow I make to myself. One person at a time maybe we can restore a little sanity to this world.

Its cops with side arms confronting difficult situations and have gotten too used to drawing on guys because the usually the rule is, if you draw second, you die first. Its probobly too late, the bad guys have too many guns, that horse bolted 20 years ago.
