PB Power has published its report ‘Powering the nation’ giving an overview of the cost of various electricity generation technologies.
The cost of carbon are included, but from a business perspective, i.e. the costs resulting from the obligations of generators under the emission trading scheme. This is not the full environmental cost, since electricity generators have been allocated 95% of their historic emissions free of charge. A similar exercise 2 years ago shows that expected generation costs for wave & tidal power have gone up dramatically. There is also a high degree of uncertainty in the cost of these technologies, as well as for the cost of biomass.
