Some Texas business leaders are projecting a shortfall in the state’s energy supply as early as 2008 unless Texas invests in new generation capacity to support record population growth.
A report by the Texas Association of Business (TAB) calls for state leaders to adopt a balanced energy plan that relies upon coal to keep up with this projected demand for energy.
“Texas faces a looming energy crisis — and we should and must deal with it today,” said TAB President Bill Hammond.
“To ignore this problem risks undermining Texas job creation, crippling our economy and enduring more of the blackouts that our state has already struggled with.”
