Syria signs oil exploration contract with Canada, Kuwait

Syria has signed an contract with Canadian and Kuwaiti oil companies to explore oil and gas in its central region of Palmyra, the official al-Thawra newspaper reported on Thursday.

The 25-year contract worth 14.4 million US dollars to cover an exploration area of 50,051 square km, was signed on Wednesday by the Syrian Company of Petroleum, the Canadian Stratic Energy Corporation and the Kuwaiti Foreign Petroleum Explorations Company, said the report.
