“The veneer on our society is as thin as the next oil delivery.”
Reuters, 7th June 2006 – “Alan Greenspan, the former Federal Reserve chairman, offered a grim view on Wednesday of the world’s rising high crude oil prices, saying he was skeptical that oil producers could pump enough crude to meet future demand.”
Bill Clinton, 28th March 2006 – “We may be at a point of peak oil production. You may see $100 a barrel oil in the next two or three years.”
On Friday 9th June 2006, a journalist from my local newspaper, The
Jimboomba Times, came to my home to watch a key DVD on the imminent decline of global oil production, “Imposed by Nature”. She borrowed my copy after watching it, and also borrowed another DVD on the same theme, The End of Suburbia plus, The Power of Community – How Cuba survived Peak Oil and a book by Richard Heinberg, The Party’s Over – Oil, War and the Fate of Industrial Societies.
