Solar power doesn’t go out after a hurricane

Among the many solutions to hurricane power outages, one that has gotten little attention is the use of solar energy.

The city of Coral Springs in Broward County used seven solar traffic signals after Hurricane Wilma hit, and officials say they were so successful they have ordered another four – even though they cost $10,000 each.
