07/27 (LWN) Several African nations have recently taken measures to expand the usage of solar-generated electricity so as to reduce fuel consumption and eliminate power outages.
One of Namibia’s major newspapers recently reported that the government had provided 2.8 million Namibian dollars to the new Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Institute, which will help bring about the use of alternative energy sources. A separate report in Maryland’s Gazette newspaper indicated that two businesses based in Maryland are to export a million dollars worth of solar-powered equipment to Namibia.
