The US Senate began political debate on climate change legislation Tuesday, taking testimony from some of the biggest guns in the Obama administration: the Secretaries of Energy, Interior and Agriculture and the chief administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Debate could be completed by the third week of September and with this week’s appointment of Al Franken (D-Minnesota) as the 60th Democratic Senator, Democrats could now theoretically pass the bill without Republican support.
