Security warnings fly over Chinese bid

China watchers warned a House panel Wednesday that the nation’s security would be put at risk if a Chinese oil company is allowed to purchase Unocal Corp.

And lawmakers seem intent on trying to block a deal if Unocal’s shareholders accept a takeover offer from the China National Offshore Oil Co.
