Screening of local film ‘Peak Oil: A Love Story’ on Dec. 2

General Ideas

Dexter Dover Area Towns in Transition (DDATT) invites the public to a showing of “Peak Oil: A Love Story” on Friday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. in the Abbott Memorial Library. This hour-long film was made by Nelson Cole of Cambridge and features Iver Lofving, a Skowhegan resident.

Peak oil is defined as “the point in time when oil extraction reaches its highest level and then declines.” The film summarizes in an often humorous way Lofving’s evolving theory that when the Earth’s petroleum supplies reach their zenith — the peak of oil production — the eventual collapse of civilization will not be far behind.  The film leaves viewers with the question, is peak oil the end of the world or a new beginning?

Love means you never have to say out of oil.

    Black Thanksgiving Friday

“But let’s get back to Thanksgiving, the time to be thankful to God for making us the cancer and not some other species. If turkey’s were the chosen ones you might see a white-haired, 400 pound Ronald Reagan on the table or at least some GMO corn.”
