Saudi Arabian authorities arrested more than 170 people suspected of plotting to use aircraft to attack the country’s oil fields and installations.
“There were 172 involved in the activities discovered by the police,” General Mansur al-Turki, an Interior Ministry spokesman, said in a telephone interview from Riyadh. “They are suspected terrorists. Some of these cells have been planning to target oil refineries and oil installations.” The detainees belonged to seven separate cell networks, he said.
