SYDNEY, Feb 14 (Reuters) – Australian oil and gas producer Santos Ltd said on Thursday its Legendre and Stag oil fields off Western Australia have been shut in since Monday due to a cyclone.
Legendre produced about 7,000 barrels of oil a day at the end of December, while Stag has a daily output rate of about 8,700 barrels, according to Santos’ fourth-quarter production report. Both fields are operated by U.S. oil major Apache Corp.
“The vessels for Legendre and Stag were disconnected and sailed away on Monday afternoon,” said Santos’ spokesman Matthew Damon.
Damon said Santos’ operations in the Timor Sea, including the Bayu Undan, Challis and Elag oil and gas fields, had not been by the cyclone.
Santos said its Mutineer-Exeter oil field off Western Australia, which was producing at reduced rates of between 4,000-5,000 barrels per day, had stopped production prior to the cyclone due to field repairs.
