Russia’s Gazprom preparing offer for rival oil company

The Russian gas giant Gazprom is lining up more than $10 billion in financing to try to gain control of Sibneft, the oil company owned by a Russian billionaire, Roman Abramovich, two executives involved in the negotiations said.

The financing is likely to be secured over the next few weeks, they said, and a deal could be agreed to this fall.
