Russia’s Gazprom aims to become world energy leader

The Russian state-controlled gas monopoly Gazprom on Friday outlined plans to form the world’s largest energy company as it expands its gas and oil business into China and southeast Asia.

New acquisitions in the oil and electricity sector are expected to move the company into the top place, CEO Alexei Miller told an annual meeting of shareholders in Moscow without giving details.
