Russian Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin said on Sunday, May 21, that Russia is urging all oil exporting nations to increase financial aid to countries that have been affected by high global oil prices. Kudrin was speaking in Sharm-ash-Sheikh at a meeting with officials from the G8 group. The meeting was organized under the G8’s partnership with the Middle East and North Africa.
Russia has donated an additional 30 million SDRs (special drawing rights) equivalent to $45 million to the International Monetary Fund’s anti-shock fund, which provides support to countries, worst affected by the oil price rise and incapable of attaining economic stability on their own.
