Russia seen eager for energy security accord at G-8 summit

An agreement on the key topic of energy security at this year’’s Group of Eight summit in St. Petersburg, Russia, has been seen as doomed by the diverging attitudes of member states.

But Russia, apparently intent on ensuring a successful summit in its unfamiliar role as chair of the high-profile event, is now showing signs of conceding some ground to other participants.
