Russia and western European countries begin rival war games today, less than two weeks after NATO ended a seven-month freeze on relations with the Kremlin.
Russia is deploying more than 5,000 troops in land-and-air exercises in central Siberia, while NATO-member Norway hosts 7,000 soldiers from 12 countries in an exercise simulating an invasion to control Arctic oil fields.
