Russia Must Develop New Gas Fields to Up Output

Russia must develop its untapped proven natural gas reserves soon, in order to arrest the current decline of production at its existing fields and help feed global demand for gas, leading industry analysts said Tuesday.

“There’s a serious decline in existing (Russian) fields; there’s a need for massive investment,” if supplies are to match up with global gas market demand, Eddie Walsh of Poten and Partners told a conference in Amsterdam.
