The Town Meeting warrant includes two articles that Jim Clyde is hoping will jump-start the road repair activities this summer. Articles 8 and 9 ask voters to approve approximately $170,000 for road repair and reconstruction.
…He said 90 percent of the materials used in road repair are made from oil, not to mention the diesel fuel and gas used in the machinery to spread it. So the town “fell behind” in recent years due to the jump in oil prices, among other things.
Clyde said the $100,000 in Article 8 for reconstruction will augment the state monies due to the town. He said Nashoba Road is ripe for a major overhaul. And roads in the Lake Mattawanakee area are on the schedule, depending on how far he can get with available funds.
How far the town gets with the “extended reclamation” of Nashoba Road depends on the bids he receives from paving contractors, Clyde said.
