I really like the part where the concept that we cannot grow forever on a finite planet is considered “radical” by most viewers. Of course, she’s correct.

Never ending growth is a mass delusion of the modern era. It’s analogous to a religion – the cult of growth.

He’s wrong about economies didn’t grow during pre-industrialization… The western world grew quite a bit threw conquering other nation and colonizing new worlds. So what happens win there is nothing left to conquer?

Richard is dead right, of course, and his point on net energy or EROEI is right on the mark. If the energy to produce CSG or shale gas means the return on investment is marginal then growth that requires affordable energy to work we have to reduce our expectations and live within our current or even lesser means.

History will prove him correct.

History will prove the Club of Rome correct, who really started the awareness campaign, as the journalist Heinberg will be the first to admit, and had great influence on my life in the seventees, as they determined my choice of study (energy engineering).

Finite resources meets endless population growth with disastrous results.
