China’s renewable energy sector may need a total investment of CNY800 billion (around $100 billion) from now until the year 2020 to boost its share in the country’s energy mix, Shanghai Securities News reported Monday, citing a senior government official.
The government is aiming to increase the use of renewable energy to 16% in the total energy mix by 2020, the paper said, quoting Xu Dingming, deputy head of the National Energy Office under the State Council, the country’s cabinet.
