Province should start investing more in green, not nuclear energy

Ontario is facing not one, but three major crises, all interrelated. The economy has slowed to a crawl. Global warming is threatening to undermine world stability and we appear to be reaching, or are past, peak oil production.

We need creative, forward-thinking, decisive leadership to meet these challenges. If we do more of what we have done in past, we will only get more of what we’re facing right now.

It is against this background that the Ontario government must decide whether to commit at least $26 billion to new nuclear facilities in this province. To do so would be a major mistake.

In the crises facing us right now, there are vast opportunities if we would just look ahead. Think outside the box.

Now is the time to invest in building a truly green technology of electrical infrastructure.
