I think that was probably the single most boring, unfocused and pointless presentation I’ve ever witnessed.

I watched this video while generating 100 Watt on my hometrainer:

I think the guy has humor and the talk informative.

Maybe he had given too many presentations without a rest – he seemed tired and was struggling to focus. A pity because the content was very informative. From the point of view of receiving such information is surely much better transmitted to the wider online public by posting his text and graphs so that we can study and address them at our own speed?

Hall’s presentation spans an entire career thinking about energy. He started with fish and his ideas have expanded to a complete world view of how our economy really works.

What we saw was a step pyramid of his research that builds to his assertion that biophysical economics trumps academic economics.

It is a bit like an encapsulated history of stump speeches over a forty year period.

Interesting nonetheless, but if you have been following the energy plot its nothing new. If this was your first exposure to the coming liquid fuels crisis, then it would seem disjointed and rambling.

I think Hall adds immeasurably to the whole energy debate.
