Power Outages Threaten Industrial Capacity

The crushing impact of acute electric power shortage in the country brought about by militant attacks on upstream petroleum industry has started weighing heavily on the real sector, with supply period to producers now less than 10 hours a day.

..President of Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Chief John Adeyemi said the power glut situation, if not urgently addressed, would lead to abysmal capacity utilization in the industrial sector.

This, he pointed out, would further entail massive loss of jobs and consequent swelling of the labour market and further impoverishment of the masses.
