Powergen, the British arm of German generator E.ON, said on Wednesday it wants to build a coal-fired electricity plant which safely buries its green house gases, provided it gets government support.
The power plant will apply gasification technology which converts coal into carbon dioxide (CO2) and hydrogen. Powergen says it will capture some 90 percent of the greenhouse gas CO2 produced and bury it in disused North Sea gas fields.
