Power Crisis Deepens

Ugandans have to brace for higher power bills, intensified and prolonged load-shedding for the next five years until another major hydropower generation dam is commissioned at Bujagali in 2010.

“In the short run, cheap hydropower will be in short supply until the development and completion of renewable energy projects,” Information Minister James Nsaba Buturo said at a press briefing at Nakasero yesterday.
