Europe can only achieve energy independence by including Ukraine in its planning, said Polish Foreign Minister Stefan Meller last Tuesday. “It is impossible to have an intelligent discussion without Ukraine, which plays a critical role,” Meller said in Ukraine on a working visit about the issue of European energy independence). Speaking at a Kiev press conference, Meller said Polish and Ukrainian delegations were in talks on coordination of energy planning between Warsaw and Kiev. “There is every reason for (Poland and Ukraine) to have a joint energy policy,” Deutsche-Presse-Agentur (dpa) quoted Meller as saying.
