Poland is furious at a pipeline plan that would direct gas straight from Russia to Germany – bypassing all other countries.
Poland and other ‘young’ member states, are 70 percent reliant on the Russian energy behemoth for their gas requirements and want the plans to be discussed at an EU level, reports German daily FT Deutschland.
Feeling the squeeze between Russia and Germany, opposition leader Jan Rokita, tagged to be the next Prime Minister following the upcoming parliamentary elections, has warned, “The pipeline through the North sea hurts the common interests of the EU as well as individual member states”.
