Philippine demand for oil declines

Phillipine oil consumption as of end-December may have plunged to its lowest level in eight years due to skyrocketing petroleum prices and lower economic activity, the Department of Energy said Friday.

Zenaida Monsada, director of the Oil Industry Management Bureau, said domestic oil consumption may have plunged 10 percent last year from the 2004 level.
