Ecuador’s state oil company Petroecuador suspended oil exports on Tuesday after hundreds of protesters stormed a pumping station and demanded the government quit trade talks with the United States.
Citing the protests, Petroecuador declared force majeure, freeing it from its contractual obligations, with a company spokesman saying the suspension could last several hours or possibly days depending on when the army is able to force the demonstrators out of the station.
