Pdvsa will not overcome the political clash

If socialism is to be used to label the whims of President Hugo Chavez, then it can be inferred that it failed, according to the ex senior official with state-run oil holding Petroleos de Venezuela

Against the background of public claims of multiple corruption cases in the domestic oil business, Pedro Mario Burelli, a specialist in politics and former outside manager with state-run oil holding Petroleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa), shared his view of the energy policy and the transit to a blurry oil socialism.
Q: Venezuela went from conservative nationalism to a more opened model, and now is entering the era of oil socialism. What changes are expected?

A: I think that this is not a subject for discussion. There is the need to see the results. Obviously, there is a crisis in the oil sector as the result of wrong decisions. Few of them can be defined as nationalist, namely 20,000 layoffs without taking notice of talented people who have benefited foreign countries and new conditions that shoo investment instead of redirecting existing agreements. If socialism is to label the whims of President Hugo Chavez, then it can be easily inferred that it failed.

Q: Even if it has not been born yet?

A: This is the ninth year of President Chavez’ term. Most of the opening was made during this term. In fact, the oil policy under this government is what is been revised. They had time enough to change strategies labeled now as evil. Just read the speeches delivered by President Chavez during the inauguration of the projects at the Orinoco oil belt, and you will realize that there is a contradiction in today’s policy.
