Ambitious future greenhouse gas emissions targets, a European ecotax by 2009 and mandatory targets for the road and aviation sectors are the main elements of a climate change report adopted by the European Parliament.
Main recommendations put forward by the MEPs:
– emission reductions of 30% by 2020 and between 60-80% by 2050;
a global partnership is needed to combat climate change
– the US needs to get back on board and strategic partnerships have to be established with fast-growing economies such as China, South-Africa, Brazil and India;
and many more after the jump.
