Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said that the government is tapping multiple avenues for ensuring energy security to meet the growing demand of energy in the country.
Mr. Shaukat Aziz said that all this is being done as part of an energy plan which has a 25-year perspective and the conventional sources of energy and transportation means will now be replaced by a different mix of energy as well as transportation through pipelines. He told the delegation that Pakistan is already buying electricity from Iran and exploring possibilities of importing electricity from Central Asia. Cross-border energy flow will help Pakistan’s growing needs and change the whole paradigm of how energy is produced, distributed and consumed, he said.
