The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries had almost 20% more active drilling rigs in operation in 2004 than the previous year – an indication of higher oil output, the group’s statistical bulletin said Tuesday.
According to the bulletin posted on the group’s Web site, OPEC had 272 active rigs in 2004 – an increase of 18.8% compared with 229 in 2003.
