In an hour and a half, the visiting (mechanical engineer and an expert on the oil industry) professor from the University of Ohio — he has been teaching this year at the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore and will teach at IIT Madras from January — had managed to set many minds thinking about whether we are doing enough to conserve the most precious of energy resources — oil — and, more important, whether we are prepared for the energy shortage that is inevitable.
