The high price of gasoline and spiraling cost of other forms of energy in the United States are crying out for an energy summit, a Permian Basin oilman said.
Yet even as industry officials are urging that course, in Congress calls are being heard for another windfall profits tax.
Midland independent producer Bob Landreth said the escalating costs of energy were predicted by those in the industry six years ago who were encouraging further development of other sources of energy such as nuclear energy. Congress, however, failed to act.
