Oil climbs above $92 on French refinery strike

LONDON, Dec 18 (Reuters) – Oil surged above $92 a barrel on Tuesday, lifted by a strike at five French oil refineries and as Turkish troops crossed into northern Iraq.

French oil and gas company Total said workers had begun striking at five of its refineries late on Monday over pay issues and that supply of fuel products from the five refineries was blocked or reduced.

“We hope to reach an agreement very soon on salaries,” a Total spokesman said.
