President Barack Obama will pledge to reduce America’s greenhouse gas emissions “in the range of 17 per cent below 2005 levels” by 2020 when he attends next month’s climate change summit in Copenhagen, the White House said Wednesday.
Confirmation that Obama will travel to the Danish capital triggered new calls for Prime Minister Stephen Harper to personally represent Canada at the Dec. 7-18 summit, where 65 world leaders will try to reach a broad political framework for slashing carbon emissions linked to global warming.
