Non-Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries crude oil producing capacity is expected to rise over the next five years then taper off after 2010 and could dip about 14% from peak-production levels by 2020, the Centre for Global Energy Studies said in a report released Wednesday.
Total oil output capacity from non-OPEC is forecast to rise from 47.3 million barrels a day in 2004 to 52.8 million b/d by 2010.
But after that, capacity is projected to slide to 50.1 million b/d by 2015 and 45.5 million b/d by 2020, according to the London-based group.
