No Long-Term Fuel Shortages, Says Minerals And Energy Minister

Motorists should avoid hoarding fuel in the face of recent shortages in certain parts of the country as this would create a dangerous problem, Minister of Minerals and Energy, Lindiwe Hendricks warned yesterday.

Current limited supplies were only of a temporally nature, she said.

Speaking at a media briefing shortly after her meeting with representatives of petroleum companies, Ms Hendricks said that industry representatives had assured her that everything was being done to transport fuel from refineries and depots to service stations.
