President, Enugu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA), Sir Rob Anwatu, has said persistent energy crisis in the South-east is making life miserable for companies, particularly manufacturing firms.
Briefing newsmen on the planned 18th Enugu International Trade Fair, Anwatu said although manufacturing firms have always had the problem of power and are forced to find alternative energy supply.
According to him, the cost of diesel has doubled in the past few months, which has brought untold hardship to manufacturing firms and responsible for rise in the cost of commodities in the market.
“The issue of power in manufacturing is an issue that no manufacturer would want to discuss. I don’t know whether government is encouraging us or want us to establish our own plant,” he said.
